About Us

Ngoto is a name inspired by the traditional and cultural connotations of brewing. The name is a colloquial Shona term which was mostly used for traditionally brewed opaque beer in the rural and urban areas. This name grew in significance in the 70s-90s In Shona speaking communities in Zimbabwe.

Beer has a significant place in the social, traditional and spirituality of Africans. Used in many gatherings, celebrations, prayer, court proceedings and rituals. We as a people have historically used beer in different social occasions. This transfer of culture from historic to modern lifestyle is part of our ethos.

The gift of brewing is an art harnessed by Brewers who hold connections with time, people, their practices, the lands harvests and its fruits.
